Biography
Patrick Scallon is an independent consultant in fashion communications. His focus is on strategy and creative content, image and reputation building across fashion, art and culture. He collaborates with artistic directors, fashion houses, and cultural institutions, building relevance through press, image and communications strategies. In 2019, he was awarded the Chevaliers des Arts et des Lettrés by the French Ministry of Culture for his contribution to Fashion.
Patrick served as Communications Director at Dries van Noten from 2008-2023. His role encompassed global communications and image strategy for the house, including input on art direction for the acclaimed fashion shows. To distinguish the brand in the luxury market, he launched a series of exhibitions including “Inspirations” at Les Arts Decoratifs Paris in 2014 and worked on the launch of the 2017 film “Dries”. Based between Paris and Antwerp, he also oversaw press offices in New York, Tokyo and Hamburg.
Prior, Patrick was at Maison Martin Margiela in successive roles as Art Director and Director of Communications, from 1993 to 2008. Working closely with the founders during the formative years of the brand, Patrick developed the iconography of the brand and the distinctive visual language for the house. Based in Paris, Patrick oversaw a network of global press offices and agency relationships in Tokyo, New York and Italy. In addition to his work on the Maison Martin Margiela brand, Patrick also was the key laison for Mr Margiela with the communications and fashion show production teams at Hermes.
Before his career in fashion, Patrick honed his communications skills in the fields of economics, politics and foreign affairs. Based in Brussels, he worked with the European Commission’ Directorate General at the European Parliament as well as for private sector companies from financial institutions to lobby groups.
